about

Riva Fairhall is a New York based Lighting Designer. She recently completed her course of study at Yale School of Drama, and can now be found assisting on and off Broadway, working as the resident Lighting Designer at TheaterLab NYC, and caring for her small menagerie of hamsters.

Selected designs include Choir Boy (Yale Rep); Manning, Alice, Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play (Student Directors Thesis); The Tempest (Yale Shakespeare Research Project); Fireflies, School Girls (Yale Cabaret); The Bakkhai (Yale Summer Cabaret). Selected assistant credits include Only Gold (MCC); Cost of Living (MTC); Richard III (The Public’s Shakespeare in the Park).

Constantly striving to lower her shield of ‘contempt prior to investigation’ in life and in work, she has discovered the value of sitting in discomfort as a human and in the theatre. She endeavors to be of joyful service and comes to every table as her full authentic self, embracing all corners of the humanity of her fellow collaborators as well as the characters in the stories she is privileged with the task of illuminating.
